Review
“In this final book in the Lunar Chronicles, the stepdaughter of the wicked Queen Levana joins Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress to defeat the Queen and restore Cinder―aka Selene―as the rightful ruler of Luna. Yes, it's another one of Meyer's very fractured fairy tales, in which she offers a new amalgam of Grimm's fairy tales, science fiction, violence, women's lib, and romance. Our Snow White stand-in, Winter, is beautiful in spite of facial scars, kind to all she encounters, mentally fragile, and in love with her lowly guard, Jacin . . . Meyer's series has sold well and achieved a degree of acclaim. This conclusion's cinder-block size should only drum up further interest.” ―Booklist, starred review

Long but Well Wrapped Up
By Julie
Quick Thoughts: Overall the ending to this series was very good and I was pleased with the wrap up to the story. A lot of questions were answered and the action sequences in this book were awesome. However, I did have a few questions left over at the end and didn’t love it quite as much as everyone else.

Full Review: Alright. This book took me almost a month to rate or even review. I had many mixed feelings about this book after finishing it and I still feel like I’m sorting through them. I wanted to love the wrap up to this series after seeing so many glowing reviews online, but I got stuck. There were a lot of things I liked. For instance, the action and adventure in this series has always sucked me in. I feel like I can really visualize what is going on and Meyer has always given me a complete picture of this futuristic world. I ship all the ship especially the friendships and felt very satisfied with the conclusion of this story. However, I did have a few problems.

The fairytale interpretations throughout this series have been innovative and this installment is spot on as well. I love the elements of the Snow White fairytale we saw and the futuristic twist to the classic story too. However, there were a few points where scenes felt forced into the story to accommodate more parts of the fairytale. In some ways this story has become completely independent of the original stories so I found it a bit disruptive to be reminded this was a retelling. However, I felt very similarly at the end of Cinder and upon reread found it worked better for me.

My other issue with this book was the main couple. I had a really hard time with Jacin and Winter at first. There was so much character development and progress in Cress. I was already in the middle of so many stories and character arcs I had a hard time starting two new ones. Eventually I did like both of them and found their stories interesting. Plus Winter and Scarlet's friendship was a really interesting dynamic. I love Scarlet so as she and Winter spent more time together, I warmed up to Winter.

Like I mentioned though, the wrap up was well done. I liked the ending and how fast-paced and thrilling the conclusion was. There is a lot of drama and excitement in this wrap up. It is a long book so be prepared for emotional upheaval and lots of action. I was pleased about a lot of the decisions Meyer made for her characters and how the story panned out. I was satisfied with the conclusion of the story.

Finally Cinder's story is resolved!
By Sophia Katherine Bailey
The best thing I can say about this book is that it finally gave me a resolution to Cinder and Kai's story of trying to save Earth from the threat of Queen Levana. When I first started reading the series, I wasn't prepared for what an epic saga it would be (though I should have considered that it is called the Lunar Chronicles, so clearly there will be several tales). I honestly thought that each book would have a new story with new characters, not that they would be an expanding cast of characters who were all fighting the same battle.

By the time I started reading Winter, my patience was growing very thin, and I promised myself that even if the story wasn't resolved, I wouldn't continue reading it. ....Not that it's a bad series or I didn't enjoy it, but one can only watch so many wrenches get thrown in the heroes' way before it gets tedious. As far as this novel in particular is concerned, the character of Winter was frustrating for me. I know she was suffering from lunar sickness and that took its tole on her sanity, but her inane jabbering got old. Also, I felt like I was split between so many places and so many things going on when each of the characters split up, that I hadn't even realized that Wolf was missing from the story until he showed up much later.

Given all of these things that made reading Winter very frustrating for me, I nearly gave the book two stars instead of three. However, I wanted to be generous to the fact that we finally have a resolution of the larger arcing plot, so it earned another star just for that. I know that there are at least two stories after this, but I'm not sure that I'll be interested.

Great ending!
By Carina
I loved this series! This books does not disappoint either. It leaves you on the edge of your seat for most of the book. I found myself skipping ahead because I needed to know what was going to happen right away. Was a character going to die? I need to know now! At some points I felt like I had to close my eyes, because something horrible has going to happen to my favorite characters. I kept thinking: Oh no!

You really feel for the characters, and the story building is fantastic. Marissa Meyers thinks of every angle and does not miss anything. This is a heart wrenching book. The characters in this book do not get their happily ever after easily they must earn it, and they do! Anything that could go wrong does go wrong for your favorite characters.

Each character has there own characteristics and all of them are so much different from each other. Winter for some reason reminded me of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, her airiness attitude and the way she sees things that others don't. Thorne's great sense of humor even in a tough situation. Cress is shy and bashful but determine to be a Hero. Scarlet is fierce and stubborn. Cinder is determined and a leader. They are all great! I loved reading about all of them.

This book is very gruesome in parts, there is a lot of fighting and ever single character gets hurt some way in the book. But, the book winds down nicely at the end and everything is pieced together nicely. But I will miss reading about these character.
