About the Author
Gerard J. Tortora is Professor of Biology and former Coordinator at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ, where he teaches human anatomy and physiology as well as microbiology. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his master's degree in science education from Montclair State College. He is a member of many professional organizations, such as the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), the American Society of Microbiology (ASM), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), National Education Association (NEA), and the Metropolitan Association of College and University Biologists (MACUB).
Bryan Derrickson is Professor of Biology at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida, where he teaches human anatomy and physiology as well as general biology and human sexuality. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Morehouse College and his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Duke University. Bryan's study at Duke was in the Physiology Division within the Department of Cell Biology, so while his degree is in Cell Biology his training focused on physiology. At Valencia, he frequently serves on faculty hiring committees. He has served as a member of the Faculty Senate, which is the governing body of the college, and as a member of the Faculty Academy Committee (now called the Teaching and Learning Academy), which sets the standards for the acquisition of tenure by faculty members. Nationally, he is a member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) and the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT).

Anatomy and Physiology Key to Great Grades

As a Nursing student, you need to take a mandatory Anatomy and physiology course to actively pursue in the study of Nursing. This class being one of the hardest "weed out" classes that Nursing students need to take, we need a book to show what the body does, how it works, and why. Principles of Anatomy and Physiology 14e binder edition does exactly this. Reading this book has helped me develop an understanding for Human Anatomy and Physiology. With the in depth explanations of processes the body undergoes, thought out thorough definitions, and diagrams, pictures and tables to make connections to the readings; all have yet to cease to impress me as I continue to read the book. This binder version is more affordable than the hard copy and comes with the same quality work inside. I recommend getting a 3 inch binder along with the purchase to keep it in great condition throughout the usage of this book. This is a GREAT BOOK and I recommend it to anyone interested in Anatomy and Physiology of the Human body.

I really like it. You're able to highlight it

I am currently renting this as a Kindle digital version on my laptop. I really like it. You're able to highlight it, take notes, make note cards, and you can copy and paste it so it makes note taking much easier and you can easily search words. This was also much cheaper than either buying or renting a hard copy of the book and you don't have to deal with shipping. I'm a big fan of going digital so I highly recommend this.

No ACCESS code

I specifically purchased the loose leaf edition new despite having a few other options because I wanted the access code to be included... it is not, however there was no way to know this until after the shrink wrap seal was broken, making the item nonreturnable. The book itself may be great, but at the moment it was a very expensive mistake.
I did research the question of whether the access code would be included and found only a statement that "used items are not guaranteed to include the access code".... meaning the new one should??? This one does not
