Flawed by not being able to access the web site for sample problem solutions (if not an instructor') and some mediocre editing.

Same as the other review, a fair number of errors. Formatting of the equations is sloppy in places with multiple items placed in one line amongst others. Makes it harder to read. For the price I would have expected more effort to be spent on the editing.

For base understanding, I did find the content pretty good. I would have given it 2 or 3 stars however the advertised 'with website' caption requires registration on the Wiley web site. This does not work. Wiley support are incredibly unhelpful, to be polite. It took over a week of back and forth for them to come back with the reply that the web site was for instructors only. Which is not only ridiculous, but makes all the sample problems at the end of chapters useless as the solutions are on the website.

Don't give you money to companies who don't make an effort for clients.

It's a recommended book for people who hasn't experience in electrical areas. I don't recommend it for electrical and electronical engineers since most chapters of the book are introductory to Ohm's Law, DC-DC converters, photovoltaic and wind energy.
There's a lot of edition errors, and figures are not properly drawn.
It's not a bad book, but I was expecting more.

About the Author
Stephen Castles, DPhil, is Research Professor of Sociology at the University of Sydney. He was previously Director of the International Migration Institute at the University of Oxford. His books and articles have been translated into many languages and have been highly influential in the development of international migration studies.

Hein de Haas, PhD, is Co-Director of the International Migration Institute, University Lecturer in Migration Studies, and James Martin Fellow at the University of Oxford. He is also Professor of Migration and Development at Maastricht University.

Mark J. Miller, PhD, is the Emma Smith Morris Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware. He served on the editorial board of the International Migration Review from 1982 to 2013. Dr. Miller is the author or coauthor of six books and over 100 articles, book chapters, monographs and reviews, including several in French and German. He conducts research and consults widely on comparative immigration and refugee policies, global migration, and migration and security. He is a recipient of the Francis X. Alison award, the highest honor extended to faculty by the University of Delaware.

Castles' 5th edition is a winner

Once again, in the 5th edition, Stephen Castles and his co-authors give a brilliant, global overview of patterns of migration and their underlying causes. This is both an excellent text for undergraduate or graduate students and a handy reference for scholars in the field. Written in a clear and well-organized manner, this book not only describes the causes and impacts of migration today but also places contemporary trends in their historical context.

Good for older audiences

Quick and easy read. Pictures provide a useful focus for discussing attributes of a good leader. I disagree with those who say the book is useful for middle school through college. References to Monica Lewinsky, Michael Jackson trial, pornography and rape make this book targeted for older audiences or discussion with parents involved, not discussions for teachers to lead with middle schoolers.

This should be a mandatory book for every aspiring leader to read, be it in Christendom or the secular arena. I truly believe that it needs to be part of the Middle School reading cirriculum. Our youth today need to understand there are certain habits and attitudes that constitutes the building blocks to leadership. Leaders don't just appear they must be taught and trained by successful people that know the steps to acheiving and maintaining the front spot, called leadership. Both Habitudes 1&2 come highly recommended!!!!!

Missing images and correct answers don't match

This book has a number or questions that have some element involving "the imaging study shown here." Well, this would be fine, except the image isn't in the book, so... yeah.

Also, the correct answers for a number of questions don't actually match up. For example, the answer quide will say answer B is correct, but if you read the description, it actually describes one of the other answer choices as the correct one.

Someone clearly did not do an adequate job proofreading this edition.

Possibly an erroneous purchase

Too many errors. One of the questions discusses doing a biopsy on suspected testicular cancer (NEVER do this-- it could seed the cancer-- the answer is to proceed straight to orchiectomy). There are also some minor answer key errors (states the incorrect letter before going on to describe correct answer in explanation). Although the majority of the questions seem ok, the mistakes undermine my confidence in the reliability of the material. I'm not sure this book has been thoroughly reviewed and edited. Go for it if you've already used other sources and are looking for more questions, but I'd recommend other sources-- UWORLD, firecracker, pestana's, DeVirgilio's, and shelf-life surgery-- before this book.

Seriously for a brand new edition?

I have been using the pretest books to study for all of my shelf exams this past year. I just got the new edition of pretest surgery. I have to say the questions are good, but I found quite a few errors. I mean seriously? This is a brand new edition and I have found multiple errors or lack of images that were supposed to be there to answer questions: 388, 397, and 444. There where other questions that had problems as well. I expected a little better editing skills for a book from McGraw-Hill.

Burn is Book #5 in The Steel Brothers Saga. I would recommend reading the books in order; Craving, Obsession, Possession, Melt and then Burn. The first three books in the series follow Jade and Talon, while Melt starts the relationship between Jonah, the oldest brother, and Melanie who is Jonah and Talon's Therapist. Burn continues with Jonah and Melanie's story.

Melanie and Jonah continue to feel drawn to one another, spending more time together at his house. Melanie finds herself in an embarrassing situation while at at Jonah's house and decides to leave without being noticed. Jonah is extremely angry at Melanie once he realizes what she did. Because of hurt feelings, Jonah doesn't answer a telephone call from Melanie; a decision he will continue to regret.

Some answers we've been looking for are revealed; while more questions keep us trying to figure out the mystery that is the Steel family. Jonah will do anything to protect the ones he loves, and that now includes Melanie. Due to certain situations, Melanie gains some clarity and starts to question her role in a patients recovery. Could the struggles that Melanie has faced with that patient somehow be tied to the Steel family?!? Jonah will stop at nothing to find answers that will help them all.

The cliffhangers are awesome and this series is worth the investment. If you like a hot, steamy romance with mystery and a suspenseful “who done it” that keeps you wanting more, don't miss out! Helen does not disappoint!

I loved this book just as much as I loved the ...

I thought I might be a bit lost when Burn was released because it was a while since I read book #4, but I was wrong. It wasn’t long before my memories of events and the characters came flooding back, proving that the Steel Brothers are memorable.
While I was reading Burn, I found it very hard to put it down. People and things kept interrupting me as I tried to find out what happens next in this series. Yes, I loved this book just as much as I loved the first four books and even though I want all the ends to be tied up, I also don’t want this series to finish.
A Word of Warning: Burn ends on a cliff hanger, but this book was well worth the pain. BTW, I bought every one of these books.
I gave Burn 5 sizzling stars.

Jonah and Melanie

OMG!!!!! I am left speechless on this one. I totally enjoyed this book. the characters a re made for each other. After Melanie 's kidnapping and her not being able to get anyone on the phone I really thought she was a goner, but to my surprise she used her head to get out of the situation with one focus, to tell Jonah she loves him. My girl waited patiently and did escape. 10 points for survival skills.

Jonah wow that man is oh gorgeous. Very Dominant but when he heard from Melanie he dropped everything and ran to her in the hospital. He took her home with him and vowed to find her kidnappers along with finding Talon's as well. The chemistry between the two of them is insanely HOT.

The story goes on to unfold some other mysterys and that's when things really get interesting. Everything is leading up to the same kidnappers in both cases. I can go on about the book but I need you to buy it and read it yourself. The entire series does not disappoint. Totally in love with this series. The cliff hanger, WOW it's a dozzer.

The title of this book may seem a bit misleading; "Introduction to Flight" sounds like a fairy narrow focused book, but don't be mislead. This book has a chapter on practically EVERY field of Aerospace Engineering that you could imagine. From aeronautical concepts like stability and control and aerodynamics, to astronautical concepts like orbital mechanics and entry, descent, and landing, to cross-disciplinary ideas like structures, this book covers it all. There is even an eye-opening introduction that overviews the history of aerospace engineering, from Samuel Langley and the Wright brothers to Wernher von Braun and the Apollo program.
Not only does this book include a bit about several concepts, but it goes into pretty good detail in each one. The writing is clean, clear, and rarely dull. There are several examples problems scattered throughout each chapter, and work problems at the end. These problems address real issues that engineers have to face. The references throughout the book will guide you to sources for more information if anything in particular catches your eye.
I think this book is most useful as, like the title suggests, an introduction. It will put you well on your way to picking a specialty within aerospace engineering, and is still a good reference to the fundamental concepts in every field. This book is a must-have for the new and budding aerospace engineer.

This is a great book for an introduction to aerospace engineering. It presents various detailed historical notes about aerospace. Also, when you read the book, you realize everything is very clear and easy to understand. Having the book and Dr Anderson (the author) for the class,was the best experience. This book opens up a whole new world in your academic development.

About the Author
Benjamin B. Lahey received his undergraduate training from Davidson College and his Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Tennessee. He has taught at both community college and university levels, including the University of Georgia and the University of Miami, before joining the faculty at the University of Chicago. Ben is an award-winning teacher and a frequent speaker at the Annual National Institute on the Teaching of Psychology. He is also an active researcher on the behavioral and emotional problems of children; his research has been supported by the National Institute of Mental Health for many years. Ben was a representative of the field of psychology on the DSM-IV Child Disorders Work Group and a member of the US liaison group for the mental health section of the International Classification of Diseases. He was also the editor, with Alan E. Kazdin, of the first fourteen volumes in the annual series, Advances in Clinical Child Psychology, published by Plenum Press.

Simple and Easy to Read

The things that CSI cover in their many shows present questions unto themselves. How do they get fingerprints? How is it they construct a crime scene? What is it that the forensic people Really do? This is an easy introduction into how these kinds of questions get answere. As a layman to the trade, only curiosity peaked my interest in the subject (it doesn't help my wife watches the heck out of the various shows). Pick this up if you want to have your curiosity tickled a little more than the show. This is not a CSI handbook, it is just good to use the analogy of what people see regularly on tv; and how it translates from real science vs. the fiction of hollywood. I give it four stars because I do not know how to compare apples to oranges in the subject matter, is it too simple or too complicated in comparison to other how-does-it-work books? It is a simple read, not too many pictures, lots of info, and a legend included for you to delve more into the subject should you want to know how things are analyzed.

Valuable Starting Point

I bought this as research for my writing. I want to write a story or stories that involve crime scene investigations and autopsy results and related matters. For a person who knows nothing about this sort of thing except from television dramas, this book is very helpful. Over the years I have found these "Dummies" books to be a great resource for learning the basics of any subject. Whatever it is you want to get a handle on, these books are a good place to start. The language is easy. The books assume that you are starting from scratch. If you find you want to get deeper into a subject, they will point you in the right direction.

Church Vestments: Their Origin and Development

This is a wonderful little book that explains how vestments came about, with chapters that cover everything from the alb, to the chasuble and even the mitre (the hats bishops wear). For example, why do priests wear stoles? As it turns out, that's from Roman and Greek times during the first century when nobles wore stolas that were used as wear-all-day napkins of a sort - who would have thought? Or when did chasubles come about? Apparently all the common folk used to wear these in the first century, and then later priests continued to wear them as a sign of humility and simplicity, and later as a uniform of sorts so others would recognize them.

Although there is no specific information about modern vestments - i.e. how they are made, fabrics they are made out of, etc. - this is still a great book if you're wondering how all those parts of a vestment set came about. Very easy to read, I thought, and quite interesting.
